obenstadt goes European!
obenstadt is now part of the ECRN

We are very happy to officially join the European Creative Rooftop Network (ECRN). With this step, above all, obenstadt e.V. becomes part of a Europe-wide network of cities, initiatives, cultural actors and organisations that rethink rooftops as spaces for culture, exchange, climate resilience, nature and sustainable urban development.

ECRN – European Creative Rooftop Network

The ECRN connects partners from many European cities, including Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Barcelona, Belfast, Chemnitz, Faro, Gothenburg, Nicosia and Paris. Together, the members develop new ideas and collaborative projects around the creative use of urban rooftops and elevated spaces.

The network originally emerged from a European Creative Europe project and sees rooftops as an important future space for more liveable cities. Its goal is to connect knowledge, experiences and projects across Europe — and to bring new perspectives to the very top of our cities.

For us at above all, obenstadt e.V., becoming part of the network is an important milestone. It opens up new international collaborations, exchange formats and joint projects focused on sustainable rooftop use — and strengthens Hamburg’s visibility within the European rooftop community.

More information about the network can be found here:

Asphaltsprenger-Festival 2025

The annual Asphaltsprenger Festival on the PARKS site is now a firm favourite with nature enthusiasts and interested parties. Here you can find out about environmental protection, urban nature and sustainable urban development.

The festival, organised by the Loki Schmidt Foundation and the BürgerStiftung Hamburg, took place at the same time as the Hafengeburtstag. For the fourth time, the PARKS site was transformed into a lively meeting place for environmentalists, families, music fans and the curious - and offered an unparalleled programme on 10 May.

At the heart of the festival is the desire for a city in which nature and people are given more space again. Numerous Hamburg environmental organisations presented themselves at almost 50 stands, providing information about their projects and inviting people to get involved. Here you could not only learn how each individual can contribute to environmental protection, but also become directly active: Whether it was developing digital microscopes to analyse the water from the flood basin, building insect hotels or taking part in the bee trail - a thirst for research and action were expressly encouraged.
